Sissel in Concert
February tour 2008
European singing sensation and star of two new PBS specials, Sissel has
captured the hearts of concert audiences all over the world thanks to her
astonishingly crystal clear voice and one of the most amazing musical
repertoires of any modern artist.
Best known as Norway’s greatest musical superstar, she first drew widespread
attention as intermission artist at the 1986 Eurovision Song Contest, broadcast
from her hometown of Bergen in Norway. Anyone who listened to this
intermission performance never forgets it. Sissel was introduced to American
audiences as the beautiful young vocalist who opened the Winter Olympics in
Lillehammer in 1994, and went on to make a dramatic impact on cinema as the
alluring vocalist on the blockbuster soundtrack to
Titanic.
Her new PBS pledge special
Northern Lights was taped at an historic wooden
church in a most rarely seen location: the tiny Norwegian village of Roros.
Guests include world-renown tenor Jose Carreras, one of the last remaining
Three Tenors, and the premier string ensemble of Norway. Sissel also was
invited as special guest singer by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra
in a magnificent Christmas special taped in Salt Lake City last year.
Sissel will tour the U.S. early 2008 with her Northern Lights Concert. “With my
music, I hope to touch the hearts of the listener. I have to believe in it first to
make you believe in it. This album and concert is me. I truly hope you will enjoy
my music and my “Northern Light”!”
